Basic information
In this fortnightly reading group, we will discuss texts relevant to exploring the epistemology of responsibility in agency-stultifying situations. We will examine non-generalist epistemic approaches, the asymmetry between the first and third-personal perspectives, the question of self-deception and the problem of ignorance, amongst others. In the first semester, our sessions will be onsite and will focus on texts by Iris Murdoch and Simone Weil. In the second semester, we will read a selection of relevant texts from the more recent literature.
